Mandrake 10 and mouse problems

Hey everyone, I am still new to linux, I have installed Mandrake 10.1 and during the install my mouse worked just fine, but now when the system boots up my mouse doesnt work, PS/2 or USB. I can login with my keyboard but my mouse still doesnt work, any thing that can help me out would be appreciated. Also if you can help me, you will need to give specific instructions because i know nothing about linux

Ok, well i got the mouse to work but now it lags all over the screen, is there any way to smooth it out?

I have another update... I have restarted the machine and now the mouse doesnt work, I cant keyboard navigate either to get to the mouse setup as I did before, anyone have any suggestions to fix this problem, I am reaching my whits end because no one can seem to answer me...

1) Try Slackware (It'll make you more than just newbie almost in 1 week
2) u may try this in console (really useless, i think

This cmd dispalys all (I hope) cmds with such word (i.e. mouse)
