Mandrake 10.1 rescue console
Hi
This is my first time around playing with Linux so was after some words of wisdom to help with recovering Mandrake in a XP dual boot situation.
Background - I've layouted out XP on the primary partition and installed Mandrake in a 10gb free space sitting directly after XP. I let Mandrake auto config the nix partitions (viewing under partition magic they show a logical partitions).
All was well and Lilo in the MBR let me dual boot nicely. I then blew the XP install away and reinstalled to act out a XP fault and to see what would happen with accessing Manadrake.
I then boot into the Manadrake rescue console (in CD1) and reinstalled the nix boot loader (lilo). I can access XP fine but cannot access Manadrake.
What I want to do is re-config lilo to point at my Manadrake /boot file.
I've google'd this and have ruff idea of the steps needed, but I need a bit more of a step by step guide as I'm a bit lost while under the Mandrake rescue console.
Here is the relavent links i've found, www - pcquest.com/content/networking/100080119.asp , www - linuxquestions.org/questions/history/281774
I've selected 'load nix under /mnt' with the return already under mnt nothing to do. I then typed 'vim' and in that /ect/lilo.config but nothing happened.
I'm not really sure where I'm going wrong or what the next steps are so if anyone has any idea I be keen to hear.
Cheer,
Gary.
