Mandrake 10.1 Installation problems
I run the Mandrake 10.1 Boot CD to install. The installation software starts successfully, but then comes up with error : No CDROM device found. It will not continue with the installation past this point.

Do you have more than one CD-ROM drive on your system?
Also, if you have one, is it set to be bootable in your system BIOS? |
I have only one CDROM drive on my computer - LG CD R/W DVD Combo. (IDE\CDROMHL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4520B)
The BIOS is configured to use the CDROM drive as first option to boot from. It boots up from the Boot CD and displays the installation screen successfully. When I hit enter to continue with the installation, it comes up with the CDROM error message while looking for installed hardware. When I OK the error message it comes up with a notice that I must insert a floppy with additional drivers. Is it possible that the CD drive is not supported by Mandrake yet ? |
Fixed it !
I make use of a 80GB SATA hard drive. I had to change settings in my BIOS for the computer to access both hard drive and CD-ROM drive. Settings in BIOS : Integrated Peripherals - On-Chip IDE Configuration On-Chip ATA(s) Operate Mode (Native) ATA Configuration (P-ATA only) S-ATA Keep Enabled (Yes) I further had to disable USB Legacy Support in the BIOS as I make use of an USB Wireless keyboard and mouse. The installation process went smooth after this. |
