Mandrake 10.1 does not detect my creative live 7.1 sound card
 

hi,
i have recently installed linux for the first time in my life. my system is a P4, with win XP as the primary OS. I installed the Mandrake linux 10.1 OS recently. everything goes on fine in linux except for the sound. it does not recognose my creative live 24 bit 7.1 soundcard. sndconfig says its from an unknown vendor. alsaconf does not identify it. how do i install my soundcard? i am really a newbie and know nothing of kernels, compilations, terminals.. etc. (i know only the primitive linux jargon). So please xplain the process as you would to a kindergarten child. Thanx in advance.:)

Have you run Harddrake
to see if it is detected by the system
sndconfig is only used for older ISA sound cards
