mandrake 10.1 disables my irq 11 when i plug in usb devices!
hi!
i'm a total newbie to linux converting from windows and i've just installed mandrake 10.1 download version. i'm having some trouble with my usb 2.0 thumb drives. whenever i hotplug them into the usb slots kwrited will come out telling me that mandrake is trying to disable irq #11. at about the same time, my internet connection will kinda go out. and kwrited will keep repeating the message, and the usb drive will not work. its a dual boot computer with xp as well and the drives work just fine. if i plug them in before starting up linux the same problem occurs on startup. would this be an irq conflict problem? my win xp is working fine and i don't think there are any ethernet/usb conflicts. would reassigning my onboard ethernet irq work? i am hesitant to do this because i'm a bit afraid that if i botch up my hardware config all my systems won't boot. (sorry real newbie here) otherwise does anyone have any suggestions on what i can do to access my usb drives? thanks for your time! allsmilez |
