Mandrake 10.0 xmms problems

I have a problem with my Xmms in Mandrake... First of all run run with the eSound output... Strange, but i can't get ALSA and OSS to run. When i use one of them Xmms quits... Strange... Another thing... When i load a page or run another program the music lacks... Should i just increase the buffer level?...

Still i like Linux... Its free, and you can customize the GUI to infinity...

And that's what i like...

Hope you can help me...

Are you sure the xmms-alsa-1.2.9-4mdk package is installed? Also, verify that these packages are also installed
  • alsa-utils-1.0.2
  • libalsa2-1.0.2
  • libalsa2-devel-1.0.2
  • libalsa-data-1.0.2
If some of them are not installed, it may be the cause. I'm having no problem posting this while running xmms and running a few other apps (no lags or stuttering).

Funny though ... OSS just crashes xmms.

I played with XMMS some. It seems very familiar and comfortable since it behaves exactly like Winamp. However, I have since dumped it for Kaffeine, because Kaffeine does almost everything it does (except shrink down to that tiny, tiny bar), and because it uses the xine libraries, it also plays Mpeg, Windows, Quicktime, and Realplayer videos. I like having one tool that handles all media. And it has a pretty good playlist function.

Hmm... Installed the packages, but Alsa still won't work... Should i try the Turbolinux Distro maybe? By the way, i'm running on a IBM 800 Mhz with onboard intel everything... Maybe that's the deal... Dunno....

You have to provide more info if you want help.

What packages did you install?

You are keeping a journal of changes you make to your system, right?

Alsa won't work: what is the error message you are receiving?
