Managing RedHat 9 Linux

Greetings, i have couple of problems with my RedHat 9 OS
1. my drawer panel ("Task Bar") has disappeared i don't find a way to restore it.
2. i've installed the server packages (files server,FTP server,etc')
and i see around 50 services working in background...
in my windows desktop i usually keep around 25 Services.
How do i reduce the number of services, should i kill the "sleeping" services?

1. Is there an arrow on the bottom right or left of your screen? If there is click on that to expand your panel.
2. Is there a problem with the number of services or do you just want the number smaller?
If these do not help you, then we will need more info on what you did.
