man command not found

Hi,

I am getting an error message 'bash: man: command not found' when i am trying to run the man command, both as root and as a normal user.What can be done to solve this? I am working on RHEL 5. I tried googling it...did'nt lead me through much...
The PATH variable is set as the following :
for root - PATH => /usr/kerberos/sbin:/usr/kerberos/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/root/bin
for user shash - PATH => /usr/kerberos/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/home/shash/bin

Any tips?

Hi, welcome to LQ!

yum search man|grep "^man"

If it finds it, install it.
yum install man

Cheers,

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it out, but yum search man|grep "^man" is not giving me anything related to the command man. Accordingly when I still tried yum install man, it said
'No repositories available to set up' and ' No match for argument man' ...

I'd say it's high time you configured the machine properly, then.

That is...

You might look at the repositories that you have installed for your distribution, insuring that you have the most common and useful. You do not tell us which linux your linux might be; be thus advised to read this.
