Mambo/Apache/mySQL
I just installed Mandriva 2006. I want to build a website locally with Mambo before uploading it to the net.
How do I go about installing Apache/PHP/mySQL? I thought I had installed them at start-up, but they don't show up on my k menu at all. I looked into rpmdrake and searched for apache/mysql/php, but so many files came up that I wasn't sure what I needed to install.
Could some kind soul give me a hand, please?
Thanks!

You can get/install all three of them at once, downloading xampp.
Check out this site:
http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html
It has a graphical userinterface, so it's really easy to use.

If you installed them already, then you need to go to services (mcc -> system -> services) and make sure they are enabled at to start at boot time. The packages I installed were apache2 and related packages, mysql 4.1, php5 and php5-mysql (php-mysql).

Great, thanks. I installed xampp and that appears to be pretty good. When I try to create a mysql file, though, i run into problems.
mysqladmin -u user -p create Mambo
I get the error message: "Can' connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock (111)'"
I searched around and have found tha I need to change the /etc/my.cnf to permanently set the socket file used by the mysql client, but I don't know how to open it up in a text editor. :-/ How do I open files in a text editor using the console?
Thanks.
