I am trying to host an Ftp site and I am trying to figure out as to how to get it started in Linux. I have hosted an Ftp/We site in W$ but I am not sure as to what I need to do in Linux. I am using Fedora. I would like to try and use a Ftp server program tnat will work with the W$ platform as well as the linux platform. I have a domain name and a static ip address. What is the next step to get this up and running.
There are many ftp server programs available besides the basic ftpd: vsftpd, proftpd, wu-ftpd just to name a few. Personally, I use proftpd, but anyone of them will do. It is pretty simple to install and configure.
