make install problems: ln: creating symbolic link

I tried to install xerces.
The make command was executed correct.
When the make install command was executed, following errors occurred:
make[1]: Entering directory `/home/hxu/EPICS/extensions/src/ChannelArchiver/ThirdParty/xerces-c-src2_4_0/obj'
mkdir -p /usr/local/lib
cp -fp /home/hxu/EPICS/extensions/src/ChannelArchiver/ThirdParty/xerces-c-src2_4_0//lib/libxerces-c.so.24.0 /usr/local/lib
(cd /usr/local/lib; ln -s libxerces-c.so.24.0 libxerces-c.so.24; ln -s libxerces-c.so.24.0 libxerces-c.so)
ln: creating symbolic link `libxerces-c.so.24': File exists
ln: creating symbolic link `libxerces-c.so': File exists
make[1]: *** [install] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/hxu/EPICS/extensions/src/ChannelArchiver/ThirdParty/xerces-c-src2_4_0/obj'
make: *** [install] Error 2

I'd like someone to help me solve this question. Thanks!

You already have the files or links /usr/local/lib/libxerces-c.so.24 and /usr/local/lib/libxerces-c.so so these links can't be made. Figure out where /usr/local/lib/libxerces-c.so.24 and /usr/local/lib/libxerces-c.so came from. Maybe from a failed install of the package you are currently trying to install?

Thansk.
I've already solved that problem.
The two files has already existed in /usr/lib.
I deleted these files and made again, it worked.
