make cloneconfig - blew up my path...and mouse?
 

For the first time in forever I've managed to keep Linux on my system for more than a week without nuking it out of frustration. I installed SuSE 8.2 (great distro I might add) and everything was working relatively fine. However, I got greedy and decided to install the newest NVIDIA 3d drivers for my Geforce4. In order to do this I was instructed to do the following (from the SuSE and NVIDIA instructions):

1) Kernel sources must be installed and configured. Usually this means
installing the 'kernel-source' RPM with YaST2 and configure it then
with the following commands:

cp /boot/vmlinuz.config /usr/src/linux/.config
cp /boot/vmlinuz.version.h /usr/src/linux/include/linux
cp /boot/vmlinuz.autoconf.h /usr/src/linux/include/linux
cd /usr/src/linux
make cloneconfig dep

2) Use the nvidia installer.

3) Enable 3D support with SaX2.
"

I did all that and the 3d support now works. However, upon rebooting (yes, I did sneak back into Windows...), I learned that my mouse scroll wheel no longer works, and my path seems to have gotten screwed up. I only realized the path thing when I tried to run setup (you know, for basic hardware setup) and it no longer worked from /. I've messed around with YAST2 and also the mouse tool (I run KDE 3.1) but I can't find out how to get my scroll wheel back... :(

But the real question is...how exactly did those above instructions mess things up? TIA!
