make "*** no targets Stop"


I am using linux kernel 2.6.22.6 for phytec ARM processor. i wanted to change the bootup logo and needed to make an entry in menu config.
I changed the Makefile and the Kconfig file but when i give a make command it is giving ann error as " make ***no targets Stop"

please reply to this this is urgent.
