Hi all. I'm a Linux newbie and have been doing well so far, having gotten most of what I wanted working, but I'm kinda stuck on majordomo and was hoping that someone could point me in a good direction. I originally posted this in networking, not having seen the newbie forum at that time. Whoops!
Anyway, the problem is that majordomo works with sendmail by default, and I failed to get sendmail to work. I tried, I bought a big book, I tried again, and then I shutdown the sendmail sever, started up postfix (which worked immediately) and forgot all about it until I tried majordomo.
Now, I've found a couple of documents online detailing how to get MD working with postfix, but I can't seem to get it to work. I had thought I was just not getting any mail from it, but no, the mail to it is bouncing as well, meaning it's just not working at all.
So, the questions are, first, what would be the best/simplest way to go, try to get sendmail working, or try to get majordomo working with postfix?
Second, where would I find the best information on how to do the best/simplest thing from above? The book sendmail, 3rd edition from O'Reilly is a really good book, but it's a tad beyond me as for setting up sendmail (that's the big book previously mentioned), and I've looked at a few web pages on majordomo to no avail as well (though it looks simple enough were sendmail my MTA).
For the record, I'm running Mandrake v9, sendmail v8.12.9, majordomo v1.94.5 and postfix 2.0.7 (I think... not sure on that one). The error I'm having with sendmail is when I try to start the service, I get the following:
Starting sendmail: OK ]
Starting sm-client: sendmail: invalid option -- A
sendmail: fatal: usage: sendmail [options]
At which point sendmail stops.
Thoughts?
Sam
