major redhat boot issue

i am trying to get a small server up and going. i install redhat, i can get it to boot. but if i mess with the kde config at all through redhats configuration programs it kills it and i cant fix it. the only way ive figured out how to get past it is to re-install the whole thing, which takes all afternoon. i am gonna have to re-install it, but does anyone know whats going on? its an old computer im putting it on so its gonna be really buggy to begin with. i need to get it up so i can run a webserver. when it says the x-server wont start it locks up the keyboard ect.. and says do you want to see the error logs or something as such. but of course i cant get to it and have to restart the whole thing. help please. thank you, ferret

if all your going to run is a webserver, then why not just boot into text mode? That is, don't have X install at all? Personally I found it nice to not use a GUI. only my 2 cents.

You don't need to reinstall,

Just press ctrl+alt+F1 to get to a login screen and go in and delete the .kde folder in your home folder. Then restart X.

Kde settings cannot stop the system from booting.
