Major help

I am in a beginning Linux class and need a ton of help. Anyone interested in helping me learn this over the weekend? Just basics for this class.

This is not a homework service or a tutoring service---but YES---there are many of us that will be very willing to help.

Let's use your other thread as an example: I gave you a huge hint with the Google search. Your next move would be to come back and say something like: "I tried the XXX command and I'm confused about how to interpret the output. I looked at the man page---especially the YYY option---but I'm still unclear on how to use it."

Tell us what you have studied, tried, searched for, read, etc. and exactly where you are stuck, and we will be all over you with help......

Good Luck!!!!

We will always be glad to help, but as pixellany pointed out, such blatant homework questions will almost always be ignored and/or answered with a "do your own *#)!# homework".

However, if you follow his advice, you'll always get good help and answers. But please, consider the questions you ask. For example:

"Anyone want to help me learn Linux?"...sure, but that's a BIG, vague question, with no clear answer. You won't get good, clear answers. However:

"I'm trying to compare two file sizes, and have tried the compare utility, but am getting error xxx that I don't understand. Based on what I've read, I'm doing it right. Can anyone help?" will get you loads of assistance.
