Hello
For regular users who can no longer boot their Windows host, I need to find a Linux distribution with the following features:
- Available as a live USB keydrive
- Mainsteam distribution, so that it's well maintained
- Full French UI, from booting all the way to X. This is important, as an English UI is no go for users who can't read/aren't comfortable with English
- Once in X, it must be able to mount NTFS partitions, provide a good file manager, and a good CIFS/FTP client so that users can recover data and send them to a remote host before reinstalling Windows safely
Based on the
Wikipedia list, I zeroed in on the following distros:
- RPM-based: Fedora, PCLinuxOS, Red Hat, Suse, CentOS, Mandriva/Mageia
- Gentoo-based: SystemRescueCD
- Debian-based: Knoppix, Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE), MEPIS, Ubuntu
Do you which of those solutions satisfy the requirements?
Thank you.
