Main menu add-item bug?
I'm trying to add a new menu item to the Mint 9 Gnome main menu, specifically a menu item for the 'cdcat' program in the 'Accessories' section of the main menu.
I can add it ok, but every time I do it also appears in the 'Wine' section - in fact, the icon I specify only shows in the 'Wine' section; the 'Accessories' version only has the default launcher 'spring' icon. Cdcat is not a Windows program. When I delete the cdcat menu item from the 'Wine' section it also gets deleted from the 'Accessories' section. It seems that somehow these two sections in the main menu have become linked. Beyond that I'm baffled. I've searched around but I haven't found any reference to this problem so I'm guessing it's a misconfiguration rather than a bug. Any pointers to help me track down the cause of this would be appreciated. (Finding a solution would be even better.) |
This has always been an odd problem with Alacarte. I put the font viewer Opcion in Accessories and it also turned up in Programming. I put Fontforge in Graphics, and it's appeared in Accessories. I think most people, even perfectionists like me, just learn to live with it. You could always submit a bug report to Gnome, but don't hold your breath :)

I did find this suggestion, but I don't know if it will fix my problem: Quote:
