Mail problem

This thread is outdated due to new findings. I wanted to delete it but I could not.

I don't mean to sound grumpy, but it would have been infintely more helpful to anyone searching through the archives if you could have posted your own findings on whatever this thread may have been on. Oh, and only Mods and Jeremy can delete threads.

Well, it seemed a bit odd for me to put up a question at a forum and answer it myself some days later (while there were no others answering and only a very few reading the thread).
Besides, even my original question here was incorrect and misleading due to insufficient data I had at the beginning.
That is why I wanted to delete this thread.
Moreover, the problem have lead to a security issue and I started a new thread at the security forum. Anyone who is concened with that can find it here:

Thanks for following this up. As I said, I didn't mean to sound grumpy, but quite often when a newbie asks a question that has been answered many, many times before, they are told that the answer is already in the archives. I understand that it can sound a little odd to post the answer to your own question, but it may help someone else a little further down the line.

Anyway, thanks for clearing it up and posting the relevant link.
