Unhappy Mail Server with Dynamic DNS?

Am I wasting my time by trying to run a mail server?

OK so I recently got my DSL up and running and installed a wireless router so my roomate and I can both have internet access. We have a laptop running WinXP over the wireless connection, an older compaq running WinXP on a twisted pair connection, and an IBM running Red Hat 8 on a twisted pair. I want to set up the IBM with mail, web, and ftp servers accessable by both computers on the network and on the internet. I registered for dynamic DNS services with, and it seems to have no trouble accessing the web server I have set up on the laptop, but the mail server doesn't seem to be doing anything. Assuming I set up apache and smail on the IBM, will this solve the problems? I am completely lost and anyone who can help me out or point me to some information I would greatly appreciate it.

Mail servers: Incoming and Outgoing.
Outgoing (SMTP) is very easy to set up.

For the incoming, it is VERY difficult to set up with dynamic addressing.
Your problem is with OUT or IN ?

Hello. I attempted to set up a mail server, and I was able to send mail, but not able to retrieve it. I saw pablob's reply to jhandle, and, needless to say, my problem is IN. I tried following the advice at but it did not work for me. If anyone could point me to some instructions for setting up a mail server with smail as the MTA, that would be great. I'm interested in smail because that's the MTA that comes with my distro, that being Mepis (a version of Debian).
