hey there was wondering if there was a way to make a mail server were all you have to do is add a user to the linux box and then thats the e-mail address, rather than using cyrus to add the e-mail address?
what i would really love to do, is log onto webmin, add a user and then go into postfix mail alases and add an alias ...
It depends on the mail server you have. Some use system accounts for mail, so adding new mail user means adding new system user. I configured it with qmail a number of times and also for postfix, but which POP3 server I used - don't remember. Do you need POP3 or IMAP (or both)?
i'm using both imap and pop3, i think it can be done with uw-imap but i just can't seam to get it working for me, i'm running fedora core 3, i've erased all traces of cyrus-imapd and tryed into install uw-imap but i can't seam to make it work. so i really was looking for a distro with uw-imap as a default imap-pop server or if someone can tell me how to setup cyrus-imapd to use system accounts.
