Mail delivery delay

Hi everybody
I periodically give the command tail maillog in folder /var/log
ang get many lines with result port 110 service init and different ip
I have many mail accounts and everyone is trying to connect to the mail server every 5 minutes.
I noticed a big delay today with the mail delivery.
Could anyone assist about the explanation of the above result?
Port 110 service init

Maybe I don't understand the question.

You have a bunch of mail accounts, and you have a bunch of people logging in to check their mail (port 110 is pop3 port). Did you expect something else?

As for the delay, it could be anything, including simple server load. I can only speculate on this, as you have provided no details.
