mail client for gentoo 2006.0

Hi,

Whats the 'best' mail client for gentoo 2006.0 running Gnome desktop?

The reason for asking about this, is that I dont want to be forced to installed alot of dependencies to KDE. Want to keep it at the minimum.

I have been checking out evolution. Is that a good bet?

Sincerely, Jorgen

thunderbird is nice if you dont want to drag in KDE dependencies. Note, however that you will need to pull in some mozilla dependencies. This is not nearly as much as KDE but it is a bit of a compile ;-) (assumming you aren't GRP packages). Hope this helps

BTW, what CPU are you using as this could take a while. I dont use Gentoo but I wish i did. If i had decent bandwidth(i have 26Kbps dialup) i would use it and I know a lot about Gentoo(by reading the handbook and soforth). You could say I am a Gentoo user at heart.lol

Evolution is also another good GNOME mail client.

I will go grab evolution. I just checked out and noticed that its installed under the 'office' menu. Should I upgrade (meaning doíng an emerge evolution), or?

Im running gentoo on a P4 3.2Ghz so I got plenty of CPU power :) ...for now.

Thanks for your help with this.

Sincerely, Jørgen

No need to emerge it again. Its installed under Office on some distros because it has other functions that are not related to email.
