madwifi setting

I am totally new to linux, I have installed the Opensuse 10.2

I have a Trendnet wireless card and Trendnet wireless router 108Mbps IEEE 802.11g and an IBM 600x thinkpad

I managed to install the madwifi and my wireless card is working (I could scan for available network -iwlist) and I can see my network

I have entered the WEP keys and ESSID in the openSuse network setting module

using the iwconfig command the wireless card setting is showing Encryption Off and i can not connect to the internet

Is the network setting done in suse or iwconfig command line ? and which commands I need to setup the link

I have tried the madwifi pdf help file, there is lots of commands that I am not even familiar with and I am not sure which ones I need to use.

Thanks for the help

It should be possible to set this up in yast, though I'm not real familiar with SUSE, so I'm not much help with that side. The command line method should be pretty similar across distros though. If you can post exactly what iwconfig output you have it might help to see what issues there may be.
