Machine Self Restart

Hello Experts,

I have an "Oracle Unbreakable Linux 6.5" on which "Oracle EBS" is running due to some unknown reasons machine self restarted. I see all possible logs (See Attached JPEG File) but unable to sort out the real cause of issue.

Any Help or clue to start my investigation other than these logs.

Logs which i investigated.

This is a virtual machine on Microsoft Hyper-V.

No manure Mycroft. You show as posting from Windows 10, an OS with a reputation for enforcing automatic updates. Any chance that an update has occurred, causing the restart?

osama.mansoor 09-07-2016 12:05 AM

allend,

The attached image is my windows 10 and it is just for showing logs and reboot status using last command.

allend 09-07-2016 09:25 AM

Huh?
"attached image" where?
"windows 10" at LQ?
"showing logs" which?
"reboot status using last command" If that is 'last reboot' output, it only tells when the reboot occurred.

I see no problem with Linux. You need to pursue the issue elsewhere.

AGAIN with this???? You've been working on this for A YEAR at this point:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ly-4175555166/
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...lf-4175583574/

Again, we ARE NOT going to trawl through YOUR log files to find your error. YOU ARE THE ADMINISTRATOR...if you're stuck, then post the **RELEVANT** parts of the file(s) in question, and we can try to help. But you're asking us to provide free tech support for a COMMERCIAL PRODUCT, running on WINDOWS. Use the support you're SUPPOSED to be paying for with Oracle/RHEL/Windows, and ask THEM to assist.

AGAIN...both Oracle and/or RHEL have SOS reports that you can run, and (since you PAY FOR SUPPORT, right???), you can get them analyzed. Have you actually DONE anything in the past year????

TB0ne :

Thanks for your comments.

Let you clarify some thing.

Well i do'not have oracle LINUX support and i am not paying any thing , that's why i am in this forum to get help and asks guru like you to help me out as i am not fully aware and expert level hands on experience on linux

Now problem is that machine self rebooted and i go through all logs like messages, dmesg and other on var/log but nothing found wrong in my eyes so i just post question here to take help of experts/guru whose eyes can find any clue.

So you don't want to pay for the COMMERCIAL SOFTWARE you're using, but expect someone ELSE to pay for it and give you answers for free? And again..you have now been working on this exact same issue FOR OVER A YEAR. Have you not learned/done ANYTHING in all that time??? At what point are you going to be able to become 'fully aware'???

And this:

...is plain rude, in my opinion. You are, again, asking US to read through your fairly large log files so that WE can analyze your commercial software problems??? This is why you pay support. Again, post the parts that YOU think are relevant, and at that point, we can at least see some effort on your part.

X windows has ZERO to do with Oracle and/or Linux crashing. The only thing that shows is that a client is connecting/disconnecting...did you see ANY ERRORS?????

And how would something that happened five hours before, crash your machine??? Showing us a basic cron log tells us NOTHING, especially from cron.daily, which is system housekeeping only. How about actually posting the job/script that's being run?

Again, after a year, it is puzzling why you have made absolutely ZERO PROGRESS, and why you have not paid for the Oracle software you're using on a production server, and contacted them. If this is your test machine, then you have ample time/opportunities for learning and figuring this problem out. If it's a production system, then PAY FOR SUPPORT AND USE IT.
