Almost impossible for us to say, since almost anything could be causing it. Sorry, but you haven't given sufficient information to do anything.

What is causing the problem? Do you have `top`? Try `top` to see what processes are using up the cycles. But, then, it could be other issues. Do you have a critical partition that has become full? A full mail partition could cause mail to go nuts trying to function. Oracle. Are you running an Oracle database? Or just the Oracle Linux release? Are you getting hammered with network traffic? Without being there, there are just a zillion questions and no answers. Hardware failing? /var/log/messages show anything out of line?

I removed "urgent" from your thread title. I think you have seen before that words like urgent are frowned on here.

Good Luck

Hi,

Look in '/var/log/syslog' and '/var/log/messages'.

I also suggest that you read 'How to Ask Questions the Smart Way'.

Please provide some background on this Linux server. What does it do? What services does it provide? Since you are the one asking for help and are new to Linux, does that mean you don't have anyone maintaining this server? How long has that been the case? When was it first installed and when was it last updated/patched/maintained?
