MAC in /proc

Hi everyone,
quick newb question, other then running ifconfig, what directory/file can you look at to find the MAC addy in the /proc directory. Thanks in advance.

/sys/class/net/<interface name>
cat address

in /proc directory ... this is more device related information and so i doubt this will be in the proc directory.

also, if I am seeing this correctly(I am a noob ) if you open your terminal and type
 sudo lshw -c network
it should ask for your password and then show you everything about your network card. I just did it on my ubuntu
