m4 and openoffice

How may I process a openoffice document with m4 without corupting it. If not possible is there other alternatives for achieving similar effects?

Thanks

I'll bite--what is m4? The only things close in Google is something about a macro processor for programming.

What is the end goal here?

Yeah thats what it is macro preprocessing hehe.

I'm lazy and like macros, I learned about m4 after abusing the cpp preprocessor for other things. Sometimes I don't know what number to put at the moment (or I don't care because there exists some order), which I can define in m4 syntax. Then I would like to just run m4 on the document for it to be preprocessed and edit it slightly for formating and I'm done yeay.
