M-C48 Logitech mouse
Hi guys!
My mouse works fine, but the middle button won't scroll up or down. Any ideas or suggestions? Have been at this for a couple of weeks now. Have a nice evening! |
How many buttons does your mouse have? Does it just have left, right, and middle or does it have also side buttons also ?
|
It just has three: left, right and middle which scrolls, or used to, under M$.
|
well really you have 5 button left, right middle up and down..........in this case open your xorg.conf in /etc/X11/xorg.conf go down to where it says "Core Pointer InputDevice Section" or something that you know that it has to do with the mouse......
type this: Code:
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" XF86config is also located in /etc/X11/ |
Thanks for helping Unwrittenlaw:

BTW, i just saw the section ServerLayout at the very bottom of the file with your CorePointer. Do you suppose that that is where your "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" should go? i already had it up in the mouse section but nothing was happing... |
in the mouse section change this line
Code:
Option "Protocol" "ExplorerPS/2" to: Code:
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2" i think that should do it |
Good morning, Unwrittenlaw!
Well, we made the change, but still not scroll on the middle wheel. When i press it, it does respond, usually with a menu of some sort, depending on the app. Thanks again for helping out. i've been looking all over... but still haven't seen anything. Why is this OS so unable to install something so simple as a three button wheel mouse? Well, anyway, have a wonderful day! BTW - Finally got our 2 printers installed. they are on a WinXP and one of them is a Laser. Even our home XP upstairs can't find the laser yet. |
