Luks decryption.

I used to have Redhat Linux version 5 with home folder encrypted with LUKS using cryptsetup. Then my FS got corrupted stating /home/homevg not found while bootup. I tried to recover it using recovery option from Redhat installation CD but it didn't work. Then I installed Ubuntu Operating system parallel to Redhat. To recover the data of previous version of linux I tried:

cryptsetup luksOpen /dev/sda2 sda2

But nothing is happening.
Please help, how to decrypt that data?

Hi Kriti,

Did you mount the partition? What you did is simply unlock it. After that you have to mount the partition to a location in order for you to access the data.

As an example:
Code:
sudo mount /dev/mapper/sda2 /mnt/old_drive
Make sure you create the old_drive, or any other mount location before you execute the mount command.

Hey kyrO,

Actually the problem isn't with mounting device. Device is properly mount and upto /home folder there is no problem.
After that the encrypted files in /home are not accessible.
I need a solution to decrypt those files.

Help please.
