First, read the LQ Rules, and the "Question Guidelines" and "How to ask a smart question" links in my posting signature. This is a VOLUNTEER FORUM...don't ask for/expect/deman 'urgent' help.

Secondly, you provide no details that would let us help you. Version of Lubuntu? What kind of hardware? What you've done/tried? Has it ever worked? ANYTHING??? Have you tried just pushing the button on the front of the drive? Do you know (FOR FACT) that the drive isn't having a problem, and that it works? Tried to reboot?

from all of the huge amounts of information .....

there is a tiny pin hole on the dvd/cd drive
use a paperclip and open it manually

the hole IS the size of a medium paperclip OD. Dia.

Which of the 500+ distributions are you using and what is on the DVD. Data, commercial movie?

By the way, power down the system and remove power then do the paper clip deal.
