[SOLVED] Lubuntu 15.10 + Mame 0.160 Issue

Hello Lubuntu/Ubuntu/MAME community,

FINAL EDIT: PROBLEM HAS BEEN RESOLVED. PLEASE READ THE POST BELOW FOR SOLUTION.

I'm trying to figure out why there is an error when I load the following in terminal:

libGL error: failed to create dri screen
libGL error: failed to load driver: i915

When I run the following in terminal:

mame

It will still load the MAME emulator but I've had to setup /etc/mame/mame.ini to the "video soft" option and multithreading = 1 so I can use this emulator, but it's still giving the graphics card error shown above

lspci shows the following:

I had prior issues installing the MAME emulator and went through a series of things to install/fix which has all 3 times led to me getting to the issue I'm posting now without resolve.
