LSO's

I am very new to linux and when using windows and firefox i had a addon called privacy blocker that removed any LSO's (locally stored objects, like cookies but can hold more data) do they have anything that does this for linux? without having an addon in firefox? Or is it even needed? Thanks in advance for any comments.

Can you post a link to the addon? I couldn't find it.

A quick search for "privacy" in the addons for Firefox yields these results:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...d=2&sort=&lup=
This one, Better Privacy, at the top looks like it does what you are looking for:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6623
And Privacy Plus seems to do the same thing:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/14217
I have never used either of those though.
I did not find an addon with the specific name "privacy blocker".

And welcome to the LQ forums!

It just deletes your cookies I think? It will be the same for Linux and Windows and Mac and everywhere you run firefox. If you want to go private, from firefox 3.5, "Private Browsin" was introduced. It will not keep track of your browsing history while you are using that mode. Hope this helps.

Thanks that does help. I just wondered if there is any thing i can use with other browers or even outside the browser.

You mean manually you want to delete your cookies as you would in windows?
Tools -> Clear Recent History

Flash LSOs can be found in your home directory.
~/.macromedia

You can delete them from there or use this addon.
