lp with image file creation/editing pleaseee

hi all
we are building a custom distro based on RH

so for the booting i am rt now planning to use the stock img files and edit them
i mounted ****.img file on loop

it had a rootfs.gz file
unzipped it and the result was rootfs(file info says linux file system octecte stream)

mounted this rootfs as loop on to another folder and got the full file system from it

so i need to edit some scripts form this and re-build the image
the scripts are done and now i need to know how to rebuild the rootfs.gz

thank you in advance
