I see in a previous post you said your using Ubuntu. Being new to Linux with allot of information and not knowing where to start can be overwhelming. Here's some suggestions, not in any particular order, just in case you haven't seen them:

Common Questions
Ubuntu Screencasts

This book was one of the first Linux books I purchased:

Running Linux, Fifth Edition

Here's one for Ubuntu beginners:

Ubuntu for Non-Geeks, Second Edition

There's probably lots more books to choice from.
