While installing FC2 from CDs the sound test and configuration worked fine (I heard the sound). However, when the installation was completed the sound stopped working. I have "opened volume control" and made sure that all the sliders are turned up and nothing is muted. I don't have system sounds, beeps, or sound played from CDs or WAV files.
I did install the NVIDIA graphics drivers after the FC2 install. I thought I saw in another thread that the NVIDIA driver was causing sound problems. Is this true? Have anyone else experienced this? Does anyone have a solution to my sound woes or a suggestion as to where to look for the problem?
i have fc2 and i installed the nvidia video drivers and i have not lost my sound at all... use the system-config-soundcard utility. by default fedora does not have it with the install ... to get it just:
I had similar problems -- you might try manually loading the sound driver with modprobe:
/sbin/modprobe snd-intel8x0
Then play with the various inputs on the volume control (I used the Gnome one from the RedHat menu) while running the sound from system-config-soundcard.
