lost sound and must reinstall sound card
Hello All:
I've lost sound on my box and must reinstall my sound card. I got an error message a while back but ignored it because I was under pressure to finish something else. Well, I want my sound back. How do I do that? Where do I go to see where my sound card is? Somewhere in /dev? I've got RH 7.3 w/ SoundBlaster 16. Looking forward to relevant replies. ergo_sum |
Try lspci -v to list the info for it.

Do you know how you "lost" your sound in the first place? Did you upgrade your kernel, for instance? Whenever you boot into a new kernel, you must either have the sound drivers also installed for that kernel, or you must compile and install them from source.

No I don't know how I lost my sound.
As stated in post, I got an error message which regrettable I did not really look at. Then silence. I was doing something else. So all I have is what I posted. I have RH 7.3 w/ kernel 2.4.18-3, out of the box so to speak. ergo_sum |
ok. When I try lspci -v I get
"command not found". What rpm package would that be in? ergo_sum |
