Hi,
I just want to ask a question about my Slackware System. I dont remember what I gave the root password. Now I have lost it. So is there any way to change my root password? In ubuntu we can change the password by going to the recovery mode that is init1 and just typing passwd. But how to do it in Slackware? Can anyone please help me in this regard?
the most simple thing is using a live-cd to edit your /etc/passwd file (try to search "forgot root password slackware" in your search engine for example)
=> you can reset it by removing a specific character in that file...
I have an Acer Aspire One with Linpus Linux Lite 1.0.21E and I cannot for the life of me get it to install any programmes because it keeps asking me for the root password, which I don't have and never did have!
I am only semi-computer literate when it comes to Linux as I was a Windows user previously...
Can anyone help me to reset the password? The reason I am trying to reinstall is because the netbook was recently repaired at Acer and they wiped all the programmes I had, Skype, Flash Player etc and I can't remember how I installed them the first tiem around, I just know it took me an age to do it!
