Lost my mpeg support :(

Ok this is what i did. I loaded FFMPEG to my pc because i got this mpeg that the default player couldnt play. Then it didnt work so i loades SMPEG and now it says it cant find the default mpeg player. How do i fix this? Also does xine doe mpegs...... I know about MPlayer but i wanna stick with what i got for now.,
