Lost my installation when I reformatted c:\ and redid Windows 98

Hmmm

Thought I had a dual boot down, first try! Guess not.

Was working (albeit it ignored the internet on eth0 even though it correctly named my 3com XL PCI TPO card)!

Then Windows 98 died in a hurry, so i formatted (no, not linux drive, win drive)
and lost my grubloader in MBR. I though I told grub to sit on the first sector of hd2, why did he die? how to get him back?

thanks

Ok, I have two links for you, the first one explains how this is a known problem that when installing FC2 you won't be able to boot windows and how to keep the problem from happening.

http://lwn.net/Articles/86835/

The second one explains how to reinstall grub to the right location.

thanks!

heres what worked to reinstall grub, after a re-install of 98 over-wrote the mbr:

booted off of Fedora 2 disc 1

typed: linux rescue

skipped the network adapter start, but chose to mount image

then typed:

#chroot /mnt/sysimage
#grub-install /dev/hda
#exit
#exit

re-booted, and whamo DUAL BOOT is alive and working under GRUB

NOW-->
have to get that kernal loading in such a way it will see the internet....
