Lost internet connection after reboot

I installed Suse 9.3 today with no issues other than I could not get an internet connection. After playing around with the eth0 interface configuration I managed to get a connection through my browser and email although I don't know what I changed to make this work. However, when I rebooted I lost my connection again and now I can't get it back.

Does anyone know what settings my eth0 interface should be set to and how to set those? I am able to ping my DSL modem but apparently I'm not getting out to my provider. Also, with my previous OS (WIN XP) I was set to obtain an IP address automatically. I assume I should be able to do that with Linux as well.

Thanks in advance.

Can you post the output of ifconfig, lsmod and dhclient eth0? Also, after the dhclient command can you try your internet connection to see if it works?

Don't forget to run dhclient as root.
