lost desktop effects yesterday

I was one of many that lost nvidia and desktop effects yesterday in fedora 9 x86_64. I got x and nvidia drivers back with
and restart x
However desktop effects I can not get back tells me unable to enable desktop effects and my screens are offset screens go up to high and covers time, fusion icon and gnome controls can any one tell me how to fix this please?

Create a new user and see if the problems exist with that account. This will tell you if the problems are system wide or specific to your user account settings.
