Lost 200 Gb on harddrive
I have a Lenovo Z560 with a 500 Gb harddrive. Testdisk is only seeing 320 Gb. At one time I had several distros on it but I lost 200 Gb adding and deleting distros. When I try to install a distro Gparted only shows me the 320 Gb to work with. I don't have any data on the drive now. Is there anyway to get the full 500 Gb? I was hoping there was a format command that would format the physical drive but I haven't found it yet.

Just one stupid question: are you really sure about that 500 GB? Probably you mixed two disks or you have forgotten something. It looks like it has only 320 GB.
What kind of disk is it? Probably there is a serial number or similar to identify it. And there is a special tool for that device to dig deeper. Have you checked the SMART info? |
Lets pretend that I never opened this thread
Pan64 you are correct. This really is a 320 Gb drive. The last laptop that I was just putting Mint on really was a 500 Gb machine. The box that this one came in says 320 Gb. There are no dumb questions. Thank you for your help.
