Loss of print service

I have been using linux for about a year (now Fedora 7) without major problems. My print service has failed. I cannot call the default print dialog. I cannot restart cups. See:

"cups failed. The error was: Starting cups: cupsd: Child exited on signal 11!

I would check your system log and see if there's any particular reason why it crashed.
