I'm trying to install Kubuntu from a Shippit-supplied CD of v6.10 [Edgy.] The drive is 80Gb and has been defragged. I'm making a dual-install to share the HD with Windows XP, so the installer is resizing the Windows partition. This will give Kubuntu about 15Gb. The install procedure gets to Step 5 of 6 and either hangs, or is taking an unfeasibly long time to complete what should be quite a simple task.
Has anyone else had problems with Shippit CD's - Are the disks known to be faulty? Or is this just a faaaarrr longer process than might be expected, given the small space the installer needs to create?
Any advice would be welcome - I'm eager to explore the wonders of Linux, and I'm getting more than a little tired of watching that 'View Master' wheel go round.
Thanks,
Michael
