looking for usb install that can save apps

Hi all,

I've been reading about linux distro's that can be installed on usb pendrives, i notice some can be setup with persistent home folders to alow users to save docs, bookmarks e.t.c

However i'm looking for a linux distro that can be fully installed to usb to alow program to be added and saved, not just the home folder.

Does anyone know of any ??

Thanks in advance

I think you can do this with Damn Small Linux. Check it out.

I don't see a barrier to installing any distro entirely on a pendrive, if it is big enough. Just pretend it is a hard drive.

Flash memory does 'wear out' after a large number of write operations, but as flash memory cards get larger the chance of running into this problem decreases. See this article for a discussion.

Check out Austrumi. You can download and burn the CD then run it as a LiveCD and have it install to a thumb drive. To switch it to english, open its main menu, go down to the 5th submenu and click on the option that has a little flag by it. It will say English. (unless you are from Latvia)

Debian can also be installed to a USB Pendrive.
