Looking for a System Monitor
 
I also us a Mac and on it I have a system monitor called Menu Meter that lives in the bar at the top of the screen next to the clock sorry I can't think of the name of the bar any way it shows two line graphs one for each core on the cpu and a pie chart for the ram and I like the know if any one knows of some thing like this for linux

System Monitor
 
If your running ubuntu, you can right click on the panel, select Add to Panel, and add the System Monitor Applet. I use it and it does the job quite nicely.

Also checkout screenlets. They look great and are very customizable.

You can right click on the task bar ( top bar :) ) & select network monitor, which monitors the network & system monitor, what u r looking for.

U will also find a lot more options in it.
