Looking for a launcher like "netbook-launcher"

I need to switch from 10.04 to 12.04 and would like a launcher similar to "netbook-launcher". The launcher has two areas that can be customized, and it is great for just jumping directly to a program.

Doesn't look like anything I'm aware of currently in the repos.

It morphed into Unity Desktop Environment.
