Long wait for Grub Menu and Blue Tooth USB error code "-100"

May 2nd, I made a mistake in Grub. I selected the “Windows NT 2000 XP” instead of “Windows XP Home”. Since then, it takes 90 seconds to get to the Grub menu (about a minute has been added).

In addition, as Ubuntu "starts up bar" begins, I get USB errors for USB adapters with a code number of “-100” with or without the USB blue tooth adapter installed.

Otherwise, everything works fine.

A little history: I started using Ubuntu Intrepid in December 2008 on a Desktop Sony VAIO Pentium 4 CPU @ 3.00 GHz that is dual booted with Windows XP Home and that has one a 180 GB hard drive. In March 2009, I got a cell phone and in April I started using “Voice Star” blue tooth USB adapter for communication between this computer and the cell phone. I left the adapter installed one time as I went from Windows to Ubuntu and things turned out fine as Ubuntu identified and installed a blue tooth icon on the task bar, but without application software in Ubuntu for my cell phone, I used blue tooth only in Windows XP.

Any and all suggestions are welcome.

hi

does your bios have any bluetooth configs?

2) 90 seconds to see the grub menu is bad....that should be fixed but leaping ahead to 3

3) when you boot into ubuntu...use root powers to edit the run level for /etc/rc5.d/....find *bluetooth and change the number from S to K
otherwise if nothing found...go into /etc/init.d and find the daemon for bluetooth and make it non-executable

4) or search for bluetooth software and maybe use it in Linux?

ok back to grub

did you do anything in grub before this?

can you post your /boot/grub/menu.lst pls

did you do anything in bios?

did you change any hardware?
