Logon problems?

I have Mandrake 9 dual booted with XP on my system. I'm a newbie so please explain in detail. This started about a week ago. Every time I logon or logoff to linux I don't get the graphical screen to pick which user that I want to use. How can I get it back? I don't remember changing any settings that would have stopped it!

This only happens moments before the Dinosaurs return! Run!!!

Knoppix, cool

Anyway...

Look for a file called /etc/inittab in Linux. There will be a line that looks something like:
id:3:initdefault:

Change the 3 to a 5.

Or if you like it to start in command, and want to then start up the interface you are talking about you could login as root, and then type:
kdm

This will start that familiar interface you have come to expect from a quality product from Linux

HTH

Cool

Also, when I go into the text based part after logout I can press kde and it goes to the graphical part but it won't go automatically!

So I know that it still works, I just can't go to it automatically.

It also won't even start into XWindows automatically when I reboot anymore.
